Frequently asked questions

How does Semacode repair a damaged QR code?
The engine converts the image to grayscale, stretches contrast, sharpens edges and sets an optimal threshold (Otsu). Then a real QR decoder tries to read the content – all locally in your browser.
Can every damaged code be repaired?
No, and we're upfront about it. Light to moderate damage can usually be fixed. If a core corner marker or a large data area is physically destroyed, the information is gone – no tool can reconstruct it.
What happens to my image?
Nothing is uploaded – repair runs entirely on your device. Only if you explicitly agree do you help improve the AI repair with an anonymous copy.
