A part comes back from the field, the Data Matrix on the type plate is worn away, the scanner refuses it — and nobody knows which batch it was from any more. Semacode reads codes that normal scanners and professional decoders give up on.
No sales pressure. We usually reply within two working days.
The difference
Our public tool is built for a single code: take a photo, wait, read the result. For fifty labels out of one production run that is an imposition — and it is exactly the case businesses bring us. The business route is built for the second case.
Several files or one archive at once, instead of photo after photo.
Part, batch or order number next to each image, so the result drops into your traceability without rework.
A CSV with file name, recovered content and status per row — not fifty separate emails.
Solved, not recoverable, or needs a second look. You always know which is which.
This is what we are building, and we are building it with the first partners who show us what their batches actually look like. Until it is self-service, submission is arranged by email — tell us below what you have.
Where it matters
Crumpled, smudged or partly destroyed shipping labels made readable again.
Data Matrix and direct part marking (DPM) on parts, components and packaging.
Damaged or poorly printed tickets still read at the gate.
Old, faded codes recovered from stock and scanned documents.
Evidence, not a promise
Case file · industrial part · solved
A QR code on the glossy metal type plate of a thermal cut-out. Glare on the metal had burned out one of the three finder patterns, so phone scanners found nothing and a professional decoder gave up as well. We normalised the image, reconstructed the missing structure and read the content — and the serial number printed next to the code on the plate confirmed the reading was correct.
Published with the customer's case anonymised: no company name, no full content.

Before you write to us
One code costs you nothing and you do not need to ask us first — upload it on the homepage and see what comes back. That is the cheapest way to judge whether we are worth a conversation. It gets interesting when there are fifty of them, every month, with references attached.
The limit
Some codes are physically gone. If the damage takes out more than the error correction can carry — the data area scraped away, a label burnt through, a photo too small to resolve the individual modules — nothing brings the content back, and no amount of processing changes that. We say so before you spend time on it. We would rather lose an enquiry than sell a promise we cannot keep.
Tell us what you need
We have your enquiry and will email you about your case, usually within two working days.
