Scan a QR code from an image

Got a QR code stuck in a photo, screenshot or downloaded picture, and your camera can't help? Upload the image and Semacode reads the code straight in your browser.

Nothing is uploaded – it all runs on your device.

Three steps to the content

Upload the image

Drop the photo, screenshot or saved picture that contains the code – no app, no account.

We find and decode it

Semacode locates the code, corrects contrast and angle, and decodes it locally on your device.

Get the content

See the link, text or data behind the code and open or copy it in one tap.

What Semacode can read from an image

Photos & screenshots

A code in a screenshot or a saved image – no need to point a camera at anything.

QR and Data Matrix

Standard QR codes and industrial Data Matrix codes, in one place.

Even rough images

Low contrast, slightly blurry or at an angle? It gets cleaned up before decoding.

Frequently asked questions

Can I scan a QR code that's already a picture on my phone?
Yes – that's exactly what this is for. When the code is in a screenshot or saved photo you can't point a camera at it, so you upload the image and Semacode reads it directly.
Do I need to install an app?
No. It runs in your normal web browser, on phone or computer. Nothing to install and no signup.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No – decoding runs locally on your device. Only if you explicitly agree do you share an anonymous copy to help improve recovery.
What if the image is blurry or damaged?
Semacode first cleans up contrast and sharpness, and if the code is damaged it can try to reconstruct it in repair mode.
